JURGEN KLOPP sniped at Manchester United’s defensive “park the bus” tactics at Anfield as they held his Liverpool team to a dull 0-0 draw.

Liverpool were held to a second goalless draw in a row by Manchester United with Jose Mourinho 'doing a job' at Anfield again.

Neither side found the breakthrough and, despite the hype around the build up, the game disappointed.

And Klopp took a swipe at his counterpart claiming he got what he came for.

“They came for a point and they got it,” said Klopp.

“You could not play this way at Liverpool but it’s okay for Manchester United. It was obvious they had a more defensive approach. They are happy. We are not happy. They were okay for a point, we wanted three.”

Klopp declined to directly criticise opposing manager Jose Mourinho but the inference was clear.

“We created enough chances to win the game and we could have had a penalty, but we didn’t score,” said the  Liverpool boss.

“They defended with nine players around the box. I don’t judge that ... they’re allowed to do it. But it made our job more difficult.”

But Mourinho defended his tactics, saying the fact that Jose Gomez was named man of the match showed they must have done ok.

United remain second in the table but lost ground on Manchester City who beat Stoke 7-2.

I have no midfielder to do what I do many, many times, which is to be with three strong midfielders and then give more freedom to all three attacking players. I couldn't do that.

"No (Marouane) Fellaini, no (Michael) Carrick, no (Paul) Pogba - nothing. Nothing at all.

"And then I thought the only chance I had to change the direction of the game is to bring players with one against one, bring players with speed and maybe - and that's what I told the players at half-time - maybe they are going to change. But they didn't.

"For me second half was a bit of chess, but my opponent didn't open the door for me to win the game."

Manchester United will take on Benfica in the Da Luz Stadium on Wednesday.

Liverpool are now set for a Champions League clash with Maribor in Slovenia on Tuesday.

The Reds are second in group E, two points behind Sevilla.

"For me today, one team who can become champion this year was in our stadium and is not a world apart from us," Klopp added.

"It's not that we are playing different planets and they are really good and we do not find the entrance to the stadium.

"So really it's OK and we carry on, that's all."
