Chelsea news: Antonio Conte won't be happy with Marcos Alonso, reckons Chris Kamara

Chelsea were surprisingly beaten 2-1 at Selhurst Park by bottom-of-the-table Crystal Palace.

The Eagles took the lead through a Cesar Azpilicueta own-goal after a deflected effort from midfielder Yohan Cabaye.

And it is that goal which Kamara does not think Conte will be pleased with, especially with left wing-back Marcos Alonso.

“Yes a little bit of luck but also Antonio Conte won’t be happy with some of the things that happened,” Kamara said on Goals on Sunday.

Marcos Alonso there he’s got Andros Townsend and I don’t know if he thinks he has to get attracted to the ball

Chris Kamara on Chelsea star Marcos Alonso

“It happens from time to time, when you play three centre-backs you have a problem because you don’t have anybody to mark at times, especially when you’re playing Palace.

“The three centre-backs are Azpilicueta, (David) Luiz in the middle and Gary Cahill.

“On the edge of the box you’ve got Cesc Fabregas, Cesc Fabregas’ man is Cabaye who was on the edge of the box.

“Also, players making mistakes and doing things that you would not expect.

Alonso seals Chelsea’s Wembley victory over Tottenham

“Marcos Alonso, in this particular instance, there he’s got Andros Townsend and I don’t know if he thinks he has to get attracted to the ball, he’s got to go the ball, but all of a sudden he goes.

“Now Cesc has got to get across so he can’t be with Cabaye.

"Cabaye comes in there and that’s where the bit of good fortune comes from.”

Chelsea's next match is in the Champions League at home to Roma this coming Wednesday (7.45pm).
