Man Utd news: Garth Crooks blasts ‘park the bus’ Jose Mourinho after Liverpool draw

GARTH CROOKS has hammered Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho over his perceived defensive tactics against Liverpool.

Mourinho: Liverpool's midfield was stronger than Man United's

Manchester United earned a second consecutive 0-0 draw at Anfield in a game with few chances for either team.

Mourinho was indebted to his goalkeeper David de Gea, who made a fine save from Liverpool defender Joel Matip with his feet.

It was United’s unadventurous approach which drew the ire of many critics.

But Mourinho defended United’s performance and instead attacked his Liverpool counterpart Jurgen Klopp for being afraid.

However, in his weekly Team of the Weekend column, Crooks said Mourinho was at fault.

He told BBC Sport: “I don't know how Mourinho has the nerve.

“I remember him slamming former West Ham manager Sam Allardyce for "parking the bus" having seen the Hammers produce a brilliant display at Stamford Bridge some years ago.

“He has also used the term to describe other performances by those who insist on containing the opposition and have refused to play an open game against his teams.

“So forgive my annoyance when Mourinho adopts the same tactics to save his own behind on occasions.”
