Jose Mourinho: Danny Murphy calls on Man Utd manager to stay amid PSG link

JOSE MOURINHO would be foolish to quit Manchester United for Paris Saint-Germain, says Danny Murphy.

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho hinted at a move to PSG over the weekend

Mourinho has sensationally suggested that he could one day manage French giants PSG.

The Portuguese boss said in an interview with Telefoot that he will not end his career at Old Trafford.

“What I can say is that I am still a manager with questions, with ambitions, with a desire to do new things and I do not think… I am sure that I will not finish my career here,” Mourinho said.

“The other day, my son who lives in London decided to go to Paris and not Manchester to watch a match.

“Why Paris? Because at the moment, PSG have something special. There is a magic, youthfulness and quality. It is fantastic.”

Mourinho’s comments surfaced after United’s dour 0-0 draw with Liverpool on Saturday.

And Murphy, while critiquing Mourinho’s tactical set-up for the Anfield clash, still doesn’t want the boss to quit England.

“I want him (to stay),” he said on talkSPORT.

“I don’t understand that. How can he be managing one of the biggest clubs in the world and then talk about where he will be going later?”

On the game, Murphy added: “I love Jose Mourinho, he’s probably the best manager.

“He doesn’t frustrate me by doing that, going for the point and getting it.

“What frustrates me is the interview after. He said he was waiting. Why? He said he didn’t have anyone on the bench to change the game tactically. But he did.

Manchester United struggled to provide Romelu Lukaku (centre) with service throughout the match

“He could have put Rashford alongside Lukaku. Or Mata as a 10. That bench is as good as any bench.

“He had Fellaini, Carrick and Pogba all out, so the midfielders can’t change.

“But you can leave the current two protecting, change the others and push them higher up the pitch.

“At the end of the season, everyone is talking about City but United will be there. No one is going to steamroller them (but) they weren’t good to watch at the weekend.”
