Cristiano Ronaldo: Real Madrid star thinks La Liga giants were wrong to sell Alvaro Morata

CRISTIANO RONALDO thinks Real Madrid were wrong to sell Alvaro Morata to Chelsea this summer, according to reports.

Chelsea signed Morata for £70million back in the summer after the Spain international had grown fed up with life at the Bernabeu.

Manchester United initially looked set to win the race for his signature, but Jose Mourinho was unable to reach an agreement with his former club.

United’s loss has been Chelsea’s gain, with the striker going on to score seven goals from his first nine appearances.

And Spanish website Don Balon claims Cristiano Ronaldo feels Real made a mistake in letting Morata depart for a new challenge elsewhere.

Real have endured a mixed start to the current campaign.

Los Blancos made a flying start, winning both the Spanish and European Super Cups with victories over Barcelona and Manchester United.

However, they have found things tougher in La Liga with Levante, Valencia and Real Betis all taking points off them so far.

And Don Balon say Ronaldo feels they are missing the goalscoring instincts of Morata.

It is said he reckons Borja Mayoral is not up to scratch.

And he also thinks Real would benefit from a second, world-class striker.

In recent weeks, several names have been mooted as potential targets.

The most feasible of those is Paris Saint-Germain forward Edinson Cavani.

The Uruguay international seems to be on borrowed time at the Parc des Princes after a fall-out with club talisman Neymar.

However, Harry Kane and Marcus Rashford are also in the frame.
