Chelsea news: Michy Batshuayi does not have the desire to play for the Blues, says Wilkins

Batshuayi is the only fit striker on the Chelsea books at the moment, with Alvaro Morata on his way back from a hamstring injury.

The Belgian started the 2-1 loss to Crystal Palace on Saturday but disappointed Wilkins.

He reckons Batshuayi was a “liability” against the Eagles and has criticised his movement up top.

Wilkins says he would rather see Tammy Abraham, who is on loan at Swansea, or Dominic Solanke, who moved to Liverpool on a free transfer in the summer, playing for the champions.

Abraham has movement and desire and I’m not sure I’m seeing that in young Batshuayi at the moment

“Unfortunately we’ve lost Morata so we’re having to reply on Batshuayi,” Chelsea fan Wilkins said.

“On Saturday (against Crystal Palace) I would have to say he was a bit of a liability.

“His movement is almost null and void and when you’re playing in a team like Chelsea, your movement has to be first-class up front.

“When you think we gave away Solanke to Liverpool for nothing, Solanke appears on the bench every week for Liverpool because Klopp thinks he is now ready to take part.

Chelsea news: Michy Batshuayi is the only fit striker in the Blues squad at the moment

“Young Tammy Abraham scored twice on Saturday for Swansea, he’s still a Chelsea player.

“He has movement and desire and I’m not sure I’m seeing that in young Batshuayi at the moment.

“The one thing about Chelsea supporters, and I stood in amongst it on Saturday and loved it because they were first-class our supporters, but they need desire from them, a little bit more desire.”

Morata could return to the squad for Chelsea's visit of Roma in the Champions League this Wednesday (7.45pm).
