In the first half of the 0-0 draw at Anfield, Manchester United striker Lukaku and Liverpool defender Lovren clashed and footage appeared to show the striker’s foot move near the defender’s body.

The incident went unpunished by referee Martin Atkinson and Lukaku later clashed with Joe Gomez.

And Sky Sports say the Belgian will not be subject to any retrospective action by the FA which will be a relief to United boss Jose Mourinho.

Earlier today, former Dermot Gallagher described the incident as just a “coming together”.

He said: “Much has been made of it, but I don't know why. Lovren puts himself in that position, plays the ball and ends up on the floor.

“Lukaku then bumps into him through no fault of his own. He moved away quickly - he can't make his body suspend in air.

“It was just a coming together. We need to be careful not to act with knee-jerk reactions - there is a physical element to the game. This incident was a natural coming together.

In his role as pundit for Sky Sports in the 0-0 draw on Saturday, Graeme Souness said: ”I’ve got to believe that boy didn't mean that.
