Real Madrid: Barcelona interest in Harry Kane transfer strikes fear into Florentino Perez

BARCELONA’S interest in Tottenham striker Harry Kane worries Real Madrid president Florentino Perez, according to reports.

David Ginola: 'Bring Bale back and KEEP Kane'

Kane is set to start for Tottenham when they go up against Real Madrid in the Champions League this evening (7.45pm).

Los Blancos are expected to run the rule over the England international, with reports suggesting he is on their radar for next summer.

Manchester United also have an interest in the 24-year-old - despite shelling out £75million on Romelu Lukaku back in the summer.

But Spanish outlet Diario Gol says that Barcelona’s eagerness to sign the striker has Real Madrid president Perez running scared.

Ernesto Valverde’s side have enjoyed a stunning start to the new campaign, winning 11 of their 12 games across all competitions.

However, it appears Barcelona are not planning to rest on their laurels.

The report says Valverde is also an admirer of Kane, and has the striker on a list of replacements for Luis Suarez.

They supposedly want the England striker to reject any Real advances for the next two years, when Suarez will be past his best.

And Diario Gol say news of Barcelona’s interest in Kane worries Perez over at the Bernabeu.

As a result, he is now ready to speed up negotiations for the former Norwich and Leicester loanee.

They want Kane to replace the ageing Karim Benzema, who has struggled to find his best form under Zinedine Zidane so far this season.

Meanwhile, speaking ahead of tonight’s game between Real and Tottenham, Sky Sports’ Phil Neville thinks Kane must prove his worth tonight.

Real Madrid: Florentino Perez is scared of Barcelona signing Harry Kane

“It's a stage that Harry Kane believes, and probably Dele Alli believes, he wants to be playing on,” he said.

“I remember when we first got into the European competitions and we came up against Rivaldo at Barcelona, Ronaldo at Inter Milan or Juventus when they had Zinedine Zidane and Alessandro Del Piero, you thought to yourself these are players we used to watch on television, the top players in world football, and I've got to test myself against the best.

“Kane is playing on the biggest stage against Sergio Ramos and Raphael Varane, two of the best central defenders in world football, and it will be a test to see whether he can perform at that level.”

Both teams are gunning for a third win of the competition, having both beaten Apoel Nicosia and Borussia Dortmund so far.
