Man Utd: Jose Mourinho provides mixed updates on Marcos Rojo and Eric Bailly injuries

MANCHESTER UNITED boss Jose Mourinho has spoken about Marcos Rojo and Eric Bailly ahead of the Red Devils’ Champions League clash with Benfica tomorrow night (7.45pm).

Mourinho expects the worst from Ibrahimovic and Rojo injuries

Manchester United go into tomorrow’s game aiming to do better than the goalless draw against Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool on Saturday.

Benfica, however, will prove tough opponents having won the last four league titles over in Portugal.

Bailly missed Manchester United’s game against Liverpool through injury, while Rojo has been out injured since damaging his knee back in April.

And Mourinho has now provided mixed news on the two defenders, saying Bailly will be absent for tomorrow’s game but a Rojo return is just round the corner.

"Rojo is not coming to play but he is coming with the team to train today with the group," Mourinho said.

"Tomorrow, individually, but he's coming [back]. I would say, probably in two weeks, Marcos is ready to play.

"There is no Bailly he was injured in the national team."

Mourinho also stressed the need for United to qualify for the knockout stages of the competition.

"Our goal is to qualify,” the 54-year-old added.

“Currently, our sole objective is to qualify within that context.

“I think that one point away against the strongest of the three teams in the group is a positive result.

"But the match is also possible to be analysed outside that context and to be analysed in the context of a match that we want to try and win."

Rojo and Bailly are not the only United players currently sidelined.

The Red Devils are also without the likes of Paul Pogba, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Marouane Fellaini and Michael Carrick.
