Sky Sports pundit Redknapp gives Man Utd and Chelsea big title hope due to Man City doubt

SKY SPORTS pundit Jamie Redknapp has given Manchester United and Chelsea hopes they can still win the Premier League title.

Jamie Redknapp claims 'things could change' with Man City

Manchester City currently sit top of the Premier League table, two points clear of rivals Manchester United in second.

City are favourites with the bookies to win the league in Pep Guardiola’s second season in charge.

But Redknapp says it is only early and they could suffer a blip and see their title hopes go up in flames, opening the door for other teams.

“What I will say is, it’s early,” the former Liverpool midfielder said.

“They started last season really, really well. I get that (there seems to be a different vibe), I get that.

“But you know what it’s like with football, the wheels can soon come off if you have one or two bad results.

“It doesn’t look like it at the moment because they are playing so well, but one or two injuries and things can change.”

Redknapp says labelling Manchester City as one of the best teams in Premier League history is premature.

But he thinks their 1-0 win over Chelsea last month shows they have that potential.

“We’re talking about are they the best Premier League team ever? Hold on, we’ve got to wait a little while,” he added.

Sky Sports pundit Redknapp says Man City can slip up in Premier League title race

“I played against the Invincibles and teams like that and some of the Manchester United sides. They’ve got the ability, they’ve got the potential.

“The Chelsea one I think made everyone stand up because last year they could beat teams four, five, six.

“But the way they played against Chelsea, who are very accomplished, they know their system inside out and they completely bossed them.

“That was one that made me go ‘wow’, we might be seeing a very impressive team.

“I hope so, I think we all do, love the style of football that they’re playing. They’re playing good football, passing, but also with a good end product.”
