Real Madrid receive bid from Arsenal for Karim Benzema: Star struggling in Spain

ARSENAL have reportedly tabled a bid for Real Madrid star Karim Benzema.

Arsenal have repeatedly been linked with a move for Real Madrid striker Benzema ever since he moved to La Liga back in the summer of 2009.

In the time since, the France international has established himself as one of the best footballers in the world.

However, Benzema has shown signs of struggling so far this season, managing to find the net just twice in eight appearances for Los Blancos so far.

And Spanish website Don Balon says Arsenal are determined to lure him away from the Bernabeu when the transfer window reopens in January.

The Gunners may need to splash the cash in the New Year.

Both Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil could leave with their contracts expiring at the end of the season.

And Don Balon say Wenger is keen to sign Benzema as a marquee replacement.

The 29-year-old signed a new contract at the club in September, with a huge €1billion release clause.

Yet, despite that, Real are supposedly receptive to Arsenal’s offer.

It is said to have gone down well in the Spanish capital, with club president Florentino Perez aware of the striker’s current struggles.

However, manager Zinedine Zidane could prove a tricky negotiator.

The Frenchman is known to be a huge admirer of Benzema, regardless of the striker’s current issues.

And selling the former Lyon star would mean Real would have to strengthen their squad in January, a notoriously difficult time of year.
