Chelsea vs Roma: Antonio Conte reacts to ANGRY David Luiz after substitution

DAVID LUIZ was visibly furious at being substituted during Chelsea’s 3-3 draw with Roma this evening.

Luiz opened the scoring for the Blues in the first half with a typical sensational finish from outside the box.

Eden Hazard quickly doubled their lead before Aleksandr Kolarov halved the deficit before the break.

With both N’Golo Kante and Danny Drinkwater unavailable due to injury, Luiz was pushed further forward into an unfamiliar midfield role ahead of a back three.

And the Brazil international handled himself well to help dictate the play and cut out Roma’s attacks.

But Conte surprised many by bringing the Brazilian off just before the hour mark.

And Luiz could be seen looking far from impressed with the decision, waving his arms in the air and mumbling to himself in disgust.

However, Conte has explained it was a precautionary decision after speaking with the team doctor.

“First of all, after the first half the doctor said he had a pain in his calf and same for Bakayoko with his groin,” Conte said.

“It was a good position to protect him. I changed the system and I preferred to change.”

Chelsea return to Premier League this Saturday (12.30pm) when the host Watford at Stamford Bridge.
