Man Utd news: Jose Mourinho has RUINED identity at Old Trafford - Craig Bellamy

JOSE MOURINHO has lost some of the identity that Manchester United have come accustom to over the years.

Jamie Redknapp defends Mourinho's tactics against Liverpool

That’s according to former Liverpool and Manchester City striker Craig Bellamy, who claims fans will not tolerate the style of play for much longer.

United have improved vastly this season in the league and are just two points off the top of the table with Manchester City the early pace-setters.

Mourinho’s side have been playing some exciting football this season, scoring 33 goals in just 12 games.

They have only failed to score in one game so far but that came at the weekend in the 0-0 draw with Liverpool at Anfield.

Manchester United are more than titles

And the United boss came under heavy criticism for reverting back to the defensive tactics he deployed in the corresponding fixture last season.

The Red Devils needed an error from Benfica goalkeeper Mile Svilar for them to beat the Portuguese side last night in the Champions League.

But Bellamy believes Mourinho is running a fine line between getting results and a desperation to win trophies.

"Manchester United are more than titles," Bellamy said on Sky Sports’ The Debate show.

Craig Bellamy believes Manchester United fans could get annoyed with Jose Mourinho's tactics

"As a football club they have an identity that's worth more than a title. As a club they have a certain way of playing and as a club they've let that go for the time being.

"Going from winning [the league] on a regular basis, to now coming off it has got them in that much of a panic.

"Sir Bobby Charlton said it through the years that Mourinho isn't a Man United type of manager. At the moment, for their desperation to win trophies, to get back to the top, they will bring him in and they will let it go for now, but there will only be a period Manchester United supporters and Manchester United as a football club will allow this to happen for.

"Manchester United is a huge club, with a huge tradition, and you don't want to be going too far away from that."
