Man Utd news: Roy Keane makes surprising assessment of Red Devils campaign so far

ROY KEANE believes Manchester United have been flying under the radar this season so far.

Jamie Carragher SLATES Jose Mourinho's tactics

United maintained their 100% record in the Champions League yesterday with a 1-0 win over Benfica courtesy of a calamitous own goal from Miles Svilar.

And while their 0-0 draw against Liverpool at the weekend drew heavy criticism from pundits and former players, it kept them within two points of early pace-setters Manchester City in the Premier League.

Pep Guardiola’s side have been in rampant form this season, scoring 39 goals in just 12 games and have scored five-plus goals in four league games already.

Kevin De Bruyne is enjoying his best season in the Premier League while Raheem Sterling, Gabriel Jesus, Sergio Aguero and Leroy Sane have also contributed on a massive scale.

United are in a sense under the radar

United have been no strangers in front of goal though this campaign, with Romelu Lukaku leading the Premier League goalscoring charts with seven goals.

But Red Devils legend Keane believes Mourinho’s side have been performing in the shadows of their city rivals.

However he believes that could suit United in the long range.

"It will suit the United camp at the moment to let City get all the credit at the moment," declared Keane.

"United are in a sense under the radar, but they are getting results and clean sheets.

“That gives you the foundations to get trophies."
