Jack Wilshere helped Arsenal to a tough 1-0 win at Red Star Belgrade
Deeney took a swipe at the Gunners on BT Sport when he said their players had ‘no cojones’ following their shock 2-1 victory five days ago.
Wilshere refuted the claim before their Europa League game, saying that Arsenal’s character could not be questioned.
He said: “It’s football and the way it is people talk.
“He’s entitled to his opinion but you can’t question our character. We’ve been in worse position before and we’ve bounced back.
“We don’t need to prove anything to Troy Deeney.
