Antonio Conte will leave Chelsea before Christmas, says Perry Groves

Conte said after this week’s Champions League 3-3 draw with Roma that Chelsea are in an ‘emergency situation’ due to their current injury crisis.

But Groves believes there are far bigger problems - namely Conte's future.

So bad is the situation at Stamford Bridge, Groves is sure Roman Abramovich will wield the axe to the man who just months ago lifted the Premier League title.

Speaking on talkSPORT, Groves said: "Antonio Conte will be gone and away from Chelsea by Christmas.

"If someone keeps moaning and groaning, Roman Abramovich doesn't care - he's ruthless.

"Look what happened with Jose Mourinho."

Chelsea go into tomorrow’s match against Watford hoping to avoid a third consecutive Premier League defeat after losses against Manchester City and Crystal Palace.

Conte will be without N’Golo Kante, Victor Moses and Danny Drinkwater while David Luiz and Tiemoue Bakayoko picked up niggling injuries against Roma that could also keep them out of tomorrow’s game.

But the Chelsea boss faces a fresh battle from within the dressing room with rumours of turmoil in the Stamford Bridge dressing room.

The Times claim some Chelsea players are not happy with the current intensity of the training regime.

It is said Conte has relatively continued with the same schedule he deployed last season which brought the club the Premier League title in his debut season.

In between the defeat to Crystal Palace and the Champions League draw against Roma Conte reportedly crammed in three training sessions and the players have privately complained of fatigue.

And they believe the current schedule at Cobham could have contributed to the injuries to Conte’s squad.
