EYEBROWS were raised when Spurs splashed out a record £40 million to sign Davinson Sanchez from Ajax in the summer. But not anymore.

The young Colombian centre back has taken the switch from Dutch football to the Premier League well and truly in his stride.

And starring in  last week's showstopper in Madrid he is now set on a repeat performance against Liverpool, even though Spurs new home hasn't been the happiest hunting ground for them so far.

"We’ve tried to pick as many points as possible at Wembley, unfortunately that hasn’t quite happened for us," he admits. "We won in the Champions League and in the League Cup, but we’ve picked up just three points in the league in our new home."

As a result, Sanchez revealed that a Madrid-style show is very much the order of the day with coach Mauricio Pochettino stressing that Spurs need to stick to the style that has now made them a feared forced in Europe as well as in the Premier League.

"The whole team managed to play with a clear head in Madrid," he said,

"At half-time the manager told us to play in as calm and cool a manner as possible, and that with all the ability we have it would be impossible not to impose ourselves on the game."

Liverpool will be hard - but we have the mentality to keep up the performance from Tuesday

That's what is expected of them again in what the South American describes as "a very special game" full of potential matchwinners.

"Facing Liverpool will be hard," he admitted. "But we have the mentality to keep up the performance from Tuesday."

Sanchez believes a sell-out Wembley could also play a crucial role this afternoon.

"I believe atmosphere is important and we always have a fantastic support from our fans. Wembley is our home now and they make it really feel like the other team are away," he added.

Meanwhile, Sanchez won't be the only 21-year-old on a mission today either.

Whether it's starting from the word go or coming on off the bench Harry Winks will be sporting a broad smile.

Harry Winks is set to start against Liverpool

The young midfielder who has joined Harry Kane as 'one of our own' favourites as far as Spurs fans are concerned continues to live the dream he feared would be a nightmare not so long ago.

It's six months since he suffered a serious ankle injury at Burnley. But a World `Cup call up for `England, plus his eye catching performance against Real Madrid last week, now has the rest of the country - and Europe -  taking notice.

“I guess it shows how far I’ve come since then,” he says. “That was a dark time, so to play as well as we did in Spain and get a result makes it all worthwhile."

How worthwhile will be even more evident against Liverpool.

“The manager has shown trust in me to start me and that has given me real confidence. It's been a great couple of weeks for me," Winks added.

“Every time he puts me out there I feel I have to repay him, as well as all the coaches and all the players, and I will always give my all."
