Sofiane Boufal goal: Southampton won thanks to a stunning solo effort from the Morroco international

Boufal lit up an otherwise poor game at St Mary's to beat Tony Pulis' side 1-0.

The Morocco international picked the ball up deep inside his own half and went on an extraordinary run up the pitch.

After beating several West Brom players, the Southampton man expertly finished past Ben Foster in goal.

Keown was commentating on the game and was amazed with what he saw from Boufal, who only came on in the 81st minute.

“Well an absolutely cracking moment in the game," Keown said on BT Sport.

Martin Keown on the Sofiane Boufal goal for Southampton against West Brom

"Boufal, when he came on I was going to say he wants to run with it.

"He’s playing in midfield and I thought maybe it was the wrong position.

"But it’s an incredible run, he takes it from almost the edge of his own box.

"Look at him here, you wonder what he’s doing with it.

"He makes it look easy, he’s looking around, he gets onto that right foot.

"He steadies himself and bang, great finish."

Boufal's goal was only his second since his £16million move from Lille in August 2016.
