David Moyes expects to be called over the Everton job

Moyes, 54, led Everton during 11 years of glory where he reached the Champions League.

But his stock has since fallen with nightmare spells at Manchester United, Real Sociedad and most recently Sunderland.

Bookies initially installed the Scot as the favourite to replace Koeman after he was axed yesterday.

Moyes would listen to any call from Toffees chiefs as he’s keen to get back into management.

But sources close to the Scot say he doesn’t expect to be consulted over the vacant position.

Moyes is currently in India working as a pundit on Indian TV for the Fifa Under-17 World Cup.

He is expected to be in the studio tomorrow when England meet Brazil and Mali take on Spain.

Everton have won two of their last 10 games and are in the bottom three after the humiliating defeat to Arsenal.

An Everton statement read yesterday: "Chairman Bill Kenwright, the board of directors and majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri would all like to express their gratitude to Ronald for the service he has given to the club over the past 16 months and for guiding the club to seventh place in last season's Premier League campaign."

Former Toffees defender David Unsworth has been placed in caretaker charge.

Sean Dyche is the favourite for the vacant Everton job despite Thomas Tuchel’s odds dropping from 14/1 to 4/1 overnight
