Tottenham news: Last week was one of the best in Spurs' history, says Jenas

That is at least the view of former Tottenham midfielder Jermaine Jenas.

Spurs battled with Champions League holders Real Madrid at the Bernabeu last Wednesday and came away with a deserved point.

They then demolished Liverpool 4-1 at Wembley on Sunday and Jenas was impressed with what he’s seen.

“You know what, they’re unbelievable right now,” he told ESPN FC.

Probably one of the best weeks in Tottenham’s history, personally

“Probably one of the best weeks in Tottenham’s history, personally.

“To go to Madrid and get the result that they did and kind of end the week on such a high with such an emphatic result against Liverpool and the performance.

“Even with a weakened squad they have pretty much battered Liverpool, who put in a poor performance on the day.

Mauricio Pochettino is just as valuable to Tottenham as Harry Kane, so hopefully he stays put as does Harry Kane.”

Jenas admits playing at Wembley was initially a concern but the win over Liverpool has ended the hoodoo at the national stadium.

“I was a little bit worried initially with regards to Wembley but looking at them this weekend it was the first time they laid down that marker to kind of say ‘okay, if you’re going to be coming here, you’re going to have to come and perform real’,” he added.

“Before that they hadn’t really been that convincing, so it was good this weekend that they did that.”
