Hat-trick hero in the quarter-final, Liverpool forward Brewster delivered the goods once again to take home the match ball and fire his country into Saturday’s final.

Brewster was the first name on the scoresheet in Kolkata as he opened his account for the Three Lions after just 10 minutes.

Callum Hudson-Odoi crossed in from the left wing to find the Reds striker, whose first effort was saved, before he tapped in the rebound from close range past goalkeeper Gabriel Brazao.

England’s lead didn’t last long though as a move only Brazil would be capable of undid England’s defence in a few quick movements.

Some wonderful one-touch football around the edge of the box saw Wesley round off the training-ground move by poking home to pull Brazil level after Curtis Anderson parried Paulinho’s initial shot.

Brazil began to apply the pressure soon after but it was England who capitalised on some poor defending by the South Americans as Brewster bagged his second.

After some neat play down the right side a deep cross along the floor evaded four Brazil players and Brewster’s excellent positional awareness saw him convert, albeit awkwardly, into the roof of the net.

Brazil came again in the second half with Marcos Antonio testing Anderson from the edge of the box but the Manchester City shot-stopper just about managed to deal with it.

England’s defence were beginning to tire with 20 minutes still to play and were almost caught out when Lincoln found himself in space, only for Anderson to rescue the Young Lions once again after narrowing the angle and forcing the shot wide.

Manager Steve Cooper needed some energy in his side and Tottenham’s Timothy Eyoma injected some much-needed pace to the team when he came on for Steven Sessegnon.

And the fresh legs worked wonders as moments later Brewster had his hat-trick following a quick counter-attack.

Phil Foden played the architect in this one as he jinked his way through the Brazilian defence on the right before crossing into the path of Brewster who made no mistake of smashing the ball into the net to cap off a stunning individual display.

England will take on Spain or Mali in Saturday’s final.
