Barcelona news: Liverpool tell Barca price they must pay to sign Coutinho in January

LIVERPOOL have reportedly told Barcelona that Philippe Coutinho will cost £133m (€150m) in January.

Liverpool's Coutinho scores wonder goal against Moscow

The Brazil international has long been linked with a move from Anfield to the Nou Camp.

And Barcelona’s interest in getting him on-board ramped up over the summer when his countryman Neymar left for Paris St-Germain.

The La Liga giants were unable to convince Liverpool to accept any of their bids - coming in at £72m, £90m and £118m respectively - though.

And the Reds’ owners, Fenway Sports Group (FSG), were unmoved by Coutinho’s attempt to force through a switch by handing in a transfer request.

Barcelona apparently remain intent on getting the playmaker on-board when the transfer window reopens in January.

Liverpool want £133m for Barcelona target Philippe Coutinho in January, Mundo Deportivo claim

And Mundo Deportivo claim they made the most of FIFA’s The Best awards being held in London to speak about a deal.

The Spanish outlet reckon Barcelona officials met with Kia Joorabchian, who represents Coutinho, in the city on Monday.

Mundo Deportivo say Joorabchian passed on the message from Liverpool that Coutinho will be available for £133m in the new year.

That figure is said to be £36m more than Barcelona were willing to commit to signing the 25-year-old.

Barcelona will reportedly look to drive down the price by reminding Liverpool that they agreed to let Coutinho leave in January.

That compromise meant the former Inter Milan ace played in the Champions League group stage - cup-tying him ahead of a move to Spain.

Barcelona are well aware that Coutinho is likely to be targeted by a number of clubs once the current campaign and subsequent World Cup draws to a close.

Therefore they are desperate to find a resolution with Liverpool in order to avoid a potential bidding war.

Mundo Deportivo indicate PSG are also interested in adding Coutinho to their ranks.

However, he’s still keen to join Barcelona, rather than link up with compatriots Neymar, Dani Alves, Marquinhos and Lucas Moura at the Parc des Princes.
