Arsenal Transfer News: Wenger can complete Ajax double swoop and freeze Barcelona out

ARSENAL can complete a double swoop of Ajax’s top two stars ahead of Barcelona if they appoint Marc Overmars as their new sporting director, reports claim.

The best of rising Ajax star Kasper Dolberg

Overmars is one of a number of candidates supposedly being eyed to take over from Richard Law at Arsenal.

Arsene Wenger has usually had the last word over new signings at Arsenal and the appointment of club legend Overmars could see the boss scout out Ajax players.

And Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo claim Barcelona will miss out if Overmars gets the job.

According to the report, Barcelona themselves are eyeing two Ajax players who will automatically be on Arsenal’s shopping list if Overmars heads to London.

Kasper Dolberg and Matthijs de Ligt are the two men supposedly in line to join Arsenal along with Overmars.

As for Arsenal, Barcelona’s own sporting director Raul Sanllehi is said to be another option for the Gunners to replace Law at the end of the season.

Arsenal spent money on just one player in the summer, landing Alexandre Lacazette in a club-record deal.

Their other arrival Sead Kolasinac was a free transfer.
