The ex-Spurs defender made the bold claim when speaking ahead of the top-of-the-table battle on Saturday (12.30pm)

Kane has scored 17 goals in his last 13 games for both club and country, while United’s Belgian striker has not converted in his last four games.

But both forwards are sure to be up there fighting for the golden boot come the end of the season.

England international Kane’s current form has even led to speculation linking him with a move to Real Madrid.

But King is sure he will be fully focussed on the task at hand when he leads the line against the Red Devils.

"Everyone expects him to score every week now, that's the kind of level he's reached,” King said.

“He's playing with such confidence he'll go into every game believing that he's going to score one or two goals."

King represented Spurs between 1999-2012 and saw some top strikers such as Jermaine Defoe, Dimitar Berbatov and Robbie Keane pass through White Hart Lane.

And asked how Kane compares to the list of Tottenham goal-scoring greats, King said: "We've obviously had legendary players like Jimmy Greaves, Jurgen Klinsmann, Teddy Sheringham.

“I played with Robbie Keane and Jermain Defoe. At the moment Harry's right up there with them, for sure he's one of the best strikers in the world."
