Arsenal news: Eddie Nketiah talks to begin next month over 650 per cent pay rise

ARSENAL are reportedly set to begin talks next month with Eddie Nketiah over a huge new contract.

Eddie Nketiah scores first ever goal for Arsenal

Nketiah made a name for himself earlier this week when he came off the bench to slot a double as Arsenal beat Norwich 2-1 in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup.

The 18-year-old, who came through the youth academy ranks, currently takes home around £2,000 a week and has one year left to run on his existing deal.

He joined the Gunners from London rivals Chelsea four years ago.

And according to The Sun on Sunday, he looks set to be rewarded with a staggering contract.

The report suggests he will see his wages jump to £15,000 a week - a staggering 650 per cent.

Negotiations could take place as early as next month, and the Gunners want to tie him down soon.

Prior to the win over Swansea yesterday, Wenger insisted he would give Nketiah opportunities to prove himself.

“He will continue to get a chance,” Wenger said.

“The biggest problem in the Premier League is for the first time since I’m in England we have a consistent level of results in the youth teams.

“That means the quality is there and the next step is to integrate them in the league.”
