Liverpool news: PSG hold talks with Philippe Coutinho agent to challenge Barcelona

PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN have made it their priority to beat Barcelona to the signing of Philippe Coutinho next summer.

Jason McAteer believes Philippe Coutinho will still join Barcelona

Coutinho made his intentions clear in the summer that he wanted to leave Liverpool with Barcelona angling for his signature.

The La Liga giants made three bids for the Brazilian playmaker but Liverpool rejected all offers and were not prepared to let their star man leave.

But since the transfer window has closed Barcelona have not dropped their interest and are expected to come back with another offer.

Recent rumoured have suggested Barcelona could make a move for Coutinho in January with Jurgen Klopp promised all the money from a deal would be made available to him to bring in reinforcements.

It is not often a team allows their star player to leave in the January transfer window with only a month to find a replacement.

And it has been claimed on French TV channel TF1 that PSG could enter the fray next summer should Coutinho still be available.

It is said PSG’s sporting director Antero Henrique held a meeting with Coutinho’s agent Kia Joorabchian on Monday to discuss a potential move to the French capital.

And they reportedly believe Coutinho’s close friendship with fellow Brazil international Neymar could give them an advantage.

Claims this earlier month suggested former the Barcelona forward made a personal plea to PSG to prepare a big money offer for Coutinho.

The 25-year-old has so far not been able to replicate his form with injuries preventing him from playing in seven of Liverpool’s 16 games in all competitions this campaign.
