Man Utd news: Jose Mourinho plans Dayot Upamecano January bid, AC Milan also interested

MANCHESTER UNITED are reportedly set to make a January bid for Dayot Upamecano but they face stiff competition from AC Milan.

Dayot Upamecano is attracting interest from clubs around Europe

The teenager has impressed at the heart of RB Leipzig’s defence since joining from their sister club, RB Salzburg, in January earlier this year.

His performances have attracted the interest of some of Europe’s elite clubs with reports suggesting last month Liverpool could be planning to make a move for the defender.

However they are not the only Premier League club tracking Upamecano’s progress.

Italian outlet Calciomercato claim United have closely been tracking the 19-year-old’s performances for the past two seasons.

And Mourinho is ready to make him part of his already resolute defence with a January bid planned.

But Calciomercato goes on to say they will face competition from AC Milan.

Upamecano cost RB Leipzig just £8.8million in January when he signed a four-and-a-half year deal.

And the Bundesliga club are likely to demand big money for the centre-back.

Reports in Germany last month suggested RB Leipzig are already considering offering Upamecano a new deal with a release clause that could be set at £88m.

Upamecano has represented France from under-16 level up to the under-19’s.
