Arsenal news: Aaron Ramsey is the reason behind the Gunners' recent form, says Gray

Ramsey has been a consistent figure in the Arsenal midfield this season alongside Granit Xhaka.

Arsene Wenger’s side have lost just one of their last seven games in the Premier League.

The one match they did lose, the 2-1 defeat to Watford, was the only occasion Ramsey did not feature in that run.

Gray says Wenger is now playing Ramsey in his best position and is reaping the benefits from it.

I don’t think it’s any surprise that Arsenal have gone on this good run when Aaron Ramsey has been contributing

“I was thinking at the weekend, as important as it is to have (Alexis) Sanchez and (Mesut) Ozil back in the group and playing and influencing the game, I think his (Ramsey) re-emergence as a fit footballer as well has helped them enormously,” he said on beIN Sports.

“I don’t think it’s any surprise that they’ve gone on this good run when Aaron Ramsey has been contributing.

“We’ll have a look at his contribution, the story of Ramsey’s game (against Swansea).

“Plenty of touches, that’s what I mean, if you’ve got Aaron Ramsey back in the side, that’s a midfield player.

“You want him central, I’ve always said that.

“I think he was wasted when he played wide either side, left or right, which Arsene chose to do a an awful lot to accommodate Ozil and Santi Cazorla.

“That’s the story of a proper midfield player, a modern-day midfield player, who goes from that box to that box and contributes.”

Ramsey is set to be rested for Arsenal's Europa League clash against Red Star Belgrade on Thursday at the Emirates, where the Gunners can qualify out of the group with a win.
