Chelsea news: Eden Hazard must be depressed and angry if he doesn't score, says Ferdinand

That is the view of BT Sport pundit and former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand.

Hazard has scored just three times in his 12 appearances for Chelsea so far this season.

The Belgium forward is often labelled as one of the best players in the world amongst a group of players just below Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Ferdinand is one pundit who puts Hazard in that bracket but he believes the 26-year-old must find a hunger to score more goals than he does.

When Eden Hazard comes off the pitch and he hasn’t scored, he has to be depressed and upset

The ex-England captain also says Eden Hazard must then show that form on the Champions League stage.

“When he’s in full flow, he's one of the best,” Ferdinand said of the Chelsea star.

“One of the best to watch in modern-day football now.

“The only thing we need to put the icing on the cake is the Champions League.

Chelsea news: Eden Hazard must showcase his ability in the Champions League, says Ferdinand

“He’s done it in the Premier League on numerous occasions. In the Champions League you want to see him do it consistently.

“I think you can (call him world class), he’s in the top echelon of players out there, beneath Ronaldo and Messi.

“What I think he needs is when he comes off the pitch and they’ve won 1-0 or 2-1 and he hasn’t scored, he has to be depressed and upset about that.

“That’s that hunger and desire to keep elevating himself to the next level. I think he needs to do that.”
