Man Utd news: Jose Mourinho WRONG to take on Manchester United fans - Matt Le Tissier

MANCHESTER UNITED boss Jose Mourinho is wrong to take aim at the Old Trafford faithful.

Mourinho shushes cameraman after Man United win

That's the verdict of Premier League icon Matt Le Tissier.

Mourinho saw United enjoy a scintillating start to the season as they kept the pace with Manchester City.

But they've since stuttered and Mourinho has been accused of reverting to the defensive tactics he's previously been criticised for.

Some United fans have been vocal about their unhappiness with the way Mourinho's team has been playing of late.

And the Portuguese seemed to respond to them on Saturday by gesturing to the camera following the 1-0 win over Tottenham.

I just think it's a battle you can't win

Mourinho also took a swipe at United supporters in his programme notes for the Spurs fixture.

But Le Tissier reckons Mourinho is making a mistake.

He told Sky Sports' The Debate show: "I think he's wrong to try and take on the Man United fans and to have a little dig in the programme. I just think it's a battle you can't win.

"There's 75,000 of them [in Old Trafford], there's one of you.

Former Arsenal star Ian Wright agreed with Southampton legend Matt Le Tissier on The Debate

"You've got to be careful where you pick your fights and I think he's picked the wrong one there."

Ian Wright agreed with Le Tissier, suggesting United fans have the right to criticise the team.

He said: "They will be thinking: 'What's he having a go at us for? Okay, it's not what we want to see but we're still trying to get behind the team.

"But surely you can show a bit of discontent because of what they're used to, what they wanna see."
