Emre Can put Liverpool 2-0 up against Champions League opponents Maribor on Wednesday night

The Reds went into Wednesday night's showdown off the back of a 7-0 victory in the reverse fixture.

And while they didn't quite have it all their own way at Anfield, they still managed to dispatch their Slovenian opponents with relative ease.

Second-half goals from Can, Mohamed Salah and Daniel Sturridge meant James Milner's missed penalty was soon forgotten.

Can has now opened up on the result which leaves Liverpool a point clear at the top of Champions League Group E with two games to go.
