Chelsea news: Antonio Conte has FULL support of board, Alex Sandro move to be pursued

ANTONIO CONTE has retained the support of the Chelsea board, because there is a degree of sympathy over the number of injuries accumulated in his squad.

Antonio Conte insists he's happy at Chelsea amid exit rumours

Conte was given a significant pay rise, but no contract extension over the summer.

The Italian tactician was quick to voice his criticism over his club’s activity in the summer window and he missed out on several key targets, including Romelu Lukaku who joined Manchester United in a £75million deal from Everton.

Chelsea’s title defence hasn’t gone according to plan and their 3-0 defeat to Roma in their Champions League group clash leaves their hopes of qualifying for the knockout stages in the balance.

But Conte still has the full support of the board because of the spate of injuries, the Daily Mirror claims.

The report suggests the club are likely to back him in the summer window and they will give money to resurrect their interest in Juventus left-back Alex Sandro.

The Blues want to provide competition on the left-side of defence for Marcos Alonso, but were rebuffed in their attempts to sign the Brazilian.

Conte has however, had some strokes of misfortune with Eden Hazard undergoing ankle surgery in the summer, while Pedro suffered a fractured cheekbone during pre-season.
