Man Utd news: Jose Mourinho confirms plans to beat Chelsea

MANCHESTER UNITED manager Jose Mourinho insists his Red Devils will try to win when they take on Chelsea on Sunday (4.30pm).

Mourinho: The team gave their absolute everything

United were thumped 4-0 in the same fixture last year.

And the result helped Antonio Conte’s side capture the Premier League title.

But Mourinho now wants to avenge that defeat by claiming all three points at Stamford Bridge.

The Portuguese boss has come under criticism in recent weeks for shutting up shop against Liverpool and Tottenham, with some fans bemoaning the defensive mentality of his tactics.

He will return to his former side where he won three Premier League titles in two spells.

And he acknowledges that the match is different to other Premier League encounters.

I have to admit it's a little bit different, but in the end, I want to win.

“I played there with Inter and twice with Manchester United,” Mourinho said.

“I have to admit it's a little bit different, but in the end, I want to win, like I did with Inter, and they want to win like they did last season."

Mourinho was hugely successful when manager of the Blues.

But he claims facing his former employer is no big deal for him.

“It isn’t a big thing," Mourinho added.

“It is normal, it is football, it is professionalism, it is football life.

“One day you are in one club, one day you’re in another club.

“It’s a big thing because it’s a big match, because it's a big opponent, they are the champions, because it's one of these matches between the top teams in the country, but by the emotional point of view it's just one more game.”
