That's the verdict of former Premier League star Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink ahead of Sunday's showdown with his old club, Chelsea.

Mourinho was praised at the start of the season as his United side showed off their attacking prowess and kept pace with Manchester City.

He's since endured criticism though for reverting to the defensive tactics which have served him well throughout his career.

Some fans booed Mourinho's decision to take off Marcus Rashford for Anthony Martial during last weekend's 1-0 win over Tottenham.

And the Portuguese responded by gesturing towards the camera after that victory - with suggestions the shushing action was directed at a section of supporters.

Mourinho also aimed a dig at a cluster of fans in his programme notes for Tuesday night's Champions League clash against Benfica.

United return to Premier League action this weekend when they visit Stamford Bridge to take on Chelsea.

And, in the build-up to that fixture, Hasselbaink has slammed the fans that have voiced their disapproval towards Mourinho.

Hasselbaink told Express Sport: "No, I don't think that it is fair [that fans are turning on Mourinho]."

Former Chelsea striker Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink is now in charge of League One side Northampton Town

Hasselbaink also addressed Mourinho's decision to publicly back misfiring Romelu Lukaku after the striker came in for flak himself.

"I think what he's trying to say is: 'In difficult times, when somebody has difficulty, we need to support our own’," he added.

"And that's with Lukaku. 'He's not scoring at the moment, but we need to keep on supporting him. He's doing other things for the team, that's why the team is winning. And he will start scoring again.'

"So, in a way, it [Mourinho speaking out] is understandable."

United are second in the Premier League going into their visit to west London, five points adrift of tabble-toppers Manchester City.
