Don't rule out a shock away win here. The visitors have had the better of the second half chances and are growing stronger by the minute.

Newcastle have lost Lascelles, who finally gave in to the injury he picked up before the break.

He's replaced by Ciaran Clark, who's getting in valuable game-time ahead of the Republic of Ireland's World Cup qualifiers against Denmark.

56: Newcastle may have carved out the better chances but Bournemouth have just had the best one of the lot.

King put Wilson through who was one on one with Elliot with no defender near him but he fluffed his big moment, firing wide of the near post.

53: Gabbiadini's flick header bobbles harmlessly wide as the Saints settle the better of the two sides after the break.

51: CLOSE! Joselu with a downward header at the back post but Begovic palms it over the crossbar. Newcastle started the brighter, as they did in the first half.

48: The Swans had one attempt on Brighton’s goal in that opening 45 minutes. That tally doesn’t look like changing as Fernandez earns himself a booking.

HT: It's still Newcastle who are carving out the bulk of the chances with Cook once again getting himself in the way of a goalbound effort - this time from Atsu and Joselu firing wide from the edge of the box.

But Toon keeper Elliot has been called into action in the last ten minutes, tipping over a Wilson header and then denying King at close range.

Lascelles required lengthy treatment after an awkward fall but seems to have run off the injury.

20: Just 20 minutes gone at St James' Park and already the Bournemouth goal is beginning to lead a charmed life.

Begovic has already pulled off two wonderful saves to keep out thunderous efforts from Ritchie and Atsu.

The Cherries keeper wasn't the only one performing defensive heroics. Gayle’s far post header from Ritchie's cross was heading for the net until Cook saved with his best.

Then Lady luck came to the visitors' rescue with Ritchie's curler hitting the woodwork. The rebound  came out to Gayle, who rolled the ball into an empty net only for the goal to be ruled out for offside.

Replays suggest it was a harsh decision.

18: I think I might have over-sold these games in the build-up. I was praying for a couple of four-goal thrillers, but I’ll be happy with one goal before the half-time whistle.

Clement's side sit outside the relegation zone on goal difference ahead of today’s home game with Brighton.

And he knows he’s coming under increasing scrutiny from supporters to oversee an upturn in performances and results.

14:45: Newcastle fans will be happy when they hear the make-up of the two teams - but it's the Cherries side which will have them smiling.

Because there's no Jermain Defoe in the starting line-up - and he's a striker who always does well at St James' Park.

He scored on his last appearance on Tyneside for bitter rivals Sunderland in a 1-1 draw.

Bournemouth's last visit to these parts spelt the end of Steve McClaren's disastrous spell in charge of the Magpies. He was sacked five days after a 3-1 defeat.

Rafa Benitez had left out Ayoze Perez, recalling Dwight Gayle for his first start since Newcastle lost 1-0 at Huddersfield in August.
