Manchester City and Bayern Munich are both interested in landing Sanchez at the end of the season.

The player is out of contract in the summer, making him a prime free transfer target.

He could negotiate terms with foreign clubs as early as January.

But the chief of the German giants has dismissed the likelihood of Arsenal forward Sanchez heading to the Bundesliga.

"I think Sanchez has already decided which club [to join], so I suppose that the door will be closed in January," Rummenigge told Sky Germany.

"That's not an issue, and he is no direct substitute for Robert Lewandowski as he is not a real centre forward."

Karl-Heinz Rummenigge says Bayern Munich won't spend big in January

Manchester City had a move for Sanchez all lined up in the summer but failed to get it over the line as Arsenal couldn’t convince Thomas Lemar to replace him on deadline day.

Sanchez has cut a frustrated figure this season and while on international duty was criticised for his performances during World Cup qualifying.

PSG appear to have dropped their interest in the player, having signed Kylian Mbappe and Neymar over the summer.

As for Bayern, Rummenigge concedes stand-in manager Jupp Heynckes won’t have too much chance to spend in January.

"The possibilities will be limited," he added to Sky Germany.

"If you have a good player, you will not give him up - or only for a huge amount of money.

"We will not be ready to spend horrendous money on a transfer. But maybe there is a good candidate who does not cost a lot of money and makes sense."
