Man Utd news: Bertrand Traore opens door to Jose Mourinho reunion despite Chelsea past

FORMER Chelsea player Bertrand Traore has opened the door to reuniting with Jose Mourinho at Manchester United.

Mourinho gave Traore his Chelsea debut during his time at Stamford Bridge, with the youngster held in high regard.

However, after struggling to earn the trust of current manager Antonio Conte, Traore was sold to Ligue 1 giants Lyon this summer.

The 22-year-old is enjoying life in France and has scored six goals since making the move.

There has been no transfer talk of a move to United but Traore’s latest comments suggest he would be keen to make the move to Old Trafford should the chance arise.

“Why not? I’m gong to work hard and if the opportunity arises, why not?” he told French magazine Onze Mondial.

Should Traore want advice on life at United, he need only ask Memphis Depay.

Depay left the club in January after failing to make the grade in English football.

But, like Traore, the Netherlands international has rediscovered his best form over in Ligue 1.

Depay has scored 13 goals in 33 games since making the move, with eight of those coming from 15 games this season.

And Mourinho confirmed United could re-sign him upon the winger leaving earlier this year.

"Potentially, he is a very good player," Mourinho said when quizzed on buying him back.

"I think when Mr Van Gaal decided to buy him, he did well. He knew him well from the national team, when he was young in the World Cup he had flashes of top quality.

"He was playing well in Holland but not the same here, but he was showing very good things.

"He didn't succeed in his 18 months but he is very young, so I think it is very important for the club to keep control of this talent, and we all wish he plays very well at Olympique Lyon and why not come back, because everyone really likes him."
