Crooks on Mourinho

20:24: Garth Crooks has hailed Jose Mourinho's response to Manchester United's defeat to Chelsea.

"As for Manchester United, well, Jose Mourinho was surprisingly reasonable in his news conference after the game," Crooks told BBC Sport.

"His analysis about the Premier League not being like any other league is spot on.

"Unlike Serie A, the Bundesliga or La Liga, any team can beat anybody on their day.

"So even if United are eight points behind Manchester City, a congested fixture list in December and January could provide him with the snookers he needs to get back in contention with the noisy neighbours. And he needs them."

De Gea revelation

17:32: David De Gea has revealed he may never have become a goalkeeper.

The Spain international, who turns 27 today, said: "I played up front at school in Madrid, then at a soccer school there too.

"I used to combine the two roles and play as a striker and then in goal. But, in the end, I realised I was a better keeper."

De Gea will be out to keep his ninth clean sheet this season when United face Newcastle on Saturday November 18.

Nevin on Chelsea defeat

16:40: Chelsea outplayed Manchester United on Sunday - according to Pat Nevin.

"Fortunately every scintilla of this squad’s spirit was right there and in your face from the first minute on Sunday against Manchester United, and a rather large communal sigh of relief was exhaled all round," Nevin told Chelsea's official website.

"The tactics were perfectly fine too, the boss seeing that a 3-5-1-1 would be a more stable structure at this precise moment.

"The return to form and to availability of a few big names doubtless helped in the mix as well and the group dynamic was, well dynamic.

"For all that you still needed to see the desire, the spirit and willingness to put every effort into every challenge and every run if we were going to see off United, and the lads certainly showed that.

"It was all there and it was just too much for Jose’s men to deal with, 1-0 was a very flattering score for them I felt.

"If we show the same spirit going forward then any concerns about qualification from our Champions League group stage will disappear very quickly and the battle to stay at least in the top four in the Premier League will also be a foregone conclusion."

Manchester United News: Tony Cottee thinks the Manchester derby in December is crucial

Neymar key to Mourinho future

16:00: Manchester United could lose Jose Mourinho because of Real Madrid's interest in Neymar.

Don Balon say PSG are fearful the Brazilian could quit for the Bernabeu in a year or two.

And they supposedly want Mourinho to replace Unai Emery in order to ensure Neymar stays put.

Mourinho's agent, Jorge Mendes, has already been in talks with PSG about taking the job in the summer.

Schick open to United move

14:30: Roma forward Patrik Schick has opened the door to a possible move to Manchester United in the future.

The 21-year-old Czech Republic international joined Roma from Sampdoria on a temporary deal in August.

Roma have paid an initial £4million loan fee, and are obligated to pay a further £8m plus £7m in performance-related add-ons on completion of the deal.

But it looks like Schick is already looking elsewhere.

Schick is quoted by Czech news outlet Reporter Magazin as saying: “Money? I take it as motivation, and I hope that in a few years I can move to an even bigger club where logically I’ll be paid even more – that motivation has always helped me a lot.

“It’s not really possible to move much higher than Roma but there are a few clubs… let’s say Real Madrid, Barcelona or Manchester United.”

Shaw to Fenerbahce?!

13:30: Manchester United defender Luke Shaw has been linked with a move to Fenerbahce.

Turkish publication Fanatik claim Fenerbahce want to bring the 22-year-old left-back to Istanbul in January.

Southampton and Tottenham are also expected to challenge for Shaw, who has not made a single Premier League appearance this campaign.

Manchester derby crucial - Cottee

12:30: Manchester City’s trip to Manchester United in December will be crucial in Pep Guardiola’s hopes of going the season unbeaten, says Tony Cottee.

United are currently the closest challengers to City, sitting second, eight points off the Sky Blues.

“December 10 is a key date,” Cottee said on Sky Sports.

“December 10, the big game, the Manchester derby. I think that will tell us everything we need to know about City.”

Barca watch Azpilicueta and Martial

11:30: Barcelona sports chief Robert Fernandez was in attendance at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

But apparently he wasn’t just there to enjoy the game…

Spanish newspaper Sport claim Fernandez was watching Manchester United winger Anthony Martial and Chelsea defender Cesar Azpilicueta, who are both on Barca’s long-term shopping list.

Azpilicueta, 28, has already responded to the Catalan side’s interest earlier this year.

He said: “It's a compliment that a club like Barca are interested in you. Last year, after a bad season on the collective level, we didn't have those type of rumours.”

ICYMI - PSG contact Mourinho

11:00: Jose Mourinho has reportedly been contacted by Paris Saint-Germain over the possibility of becoming their new manager.

Mourinho suggested last month that he could leave Manchester United in the near future as he doesn’t believe he will end his career at Old Trafford.

He said: “What I can say is that I am still a manager with questions, with ambitions, with a desire to do new things and I do not think… I am sure that I will not finish my career ere.”

His comments surprised many at the time with some suggesting it was merely a tactic at pushing the United board to offer him a new contract.

But, according to The Sun, the threat of Mourinho leaving for the Ligue 1 giants is very real.

They claim PSG have made contact with Mourinho’s representatives as they look to secure his services. The report goes on to insist Mourinho has no interest in leaving United at this current moment in time but the French club have left the door open in case he changes his mind.

Moyes savaged on Twitter

10:30: David Moyes has been brutally trolled on Twitter after being appointed as the new West Ham manager.

David Moyes has been appointed West Ham manager following the sacking of Slaven Bilic yesterday, and fans are not happy about it.

The former Everton and Manchester United boss is back in the Premier League and on a contract until the end of the season as the Hammers look to avoid relegation.

Moyes was in charge as Sunderland went down last season, and the appointment has not filled West Ham fans with confidence.

The new boss is expected to take training today, while former Hammers defender Stuart Pearce is in line to be named assistant manager.

Jose Mourinho: Chelsea were in control of the game

Pogba and Ibra update

10:00: Jose Mourinho has claimed he will welcome Paul Pogba and Zlatan Ibrahimovic back into the fold shortly.

Pogba has been missing since the middle of September while Ibrahimovic is yet to play this season.

But Mourinho thinks they could both be ready for the Christmas period.

"We have the group of players which are the ones that we hope will recover as soon as possible," he told MUTV.

"They have to work every day but they are in a good position now. Pogba, Ibra, Rojo, Fellaini.

"They are in good positions so I think we can go into this part of the season, the Christmas period, and after, in a strong position."

BREAKING: David Moyes appointed West Ham boss

09:30: David Moyes has been named as struggling West Ham's new manager.

The Premier League club have announced the 54-year-old former Everton, Manchester United and Sunderland manager as successor to Slaven Bilic who was sacked yesterday.

Bilic had been expected to see out the season with the Hammers but he was dismissed by joint-chairmen David Sullivan and David Gold in the wake of the 4-1 home defeat by Liverpool on Saturday.

Sullivan said: “I would like to welcome David to West Ham United. This is a unique position for David Gold and myself - it is the first time in almost eight years at West Ham United that we have appointed a new manager during the season.

“We need somebody with experience, knowledge of the Premier League and the players in it, and we believe David is the right man to turn things around and get the best out of the players at the Club. He is highly regarded and respected within the game, and will bring fresh ideas, organisation and enthusiasm.

“He proved with Everton that he has great qualities and we feel that West Ham United is a Club that will give David the platform to display those qualities again.”

Griezmann boost

09:00: Sections of the Atletico Madrid dressing want Antoine Griezmann out - and think the club should cash in on Manchester United’s interest.

Griezmann was linked with United in the summer, only staying in Madrid after their transfer ban was upheld.

He signed a new contract to improve his terms but didn’t extend his deal and has a fixed release clause around the £90m mark.

And his team-mates think the time is right to sell.

Griezmann flirted with Manchester United in the summer, at one point claiming there was a 6/10 chance he would make the move.

The 26-year-old has scored just twice in La Liga and once in the Champions League this season.

Atletico are down in fourth and are on the verge of being knocked out of the Champions League.

Griezmann has gone missing in big games and was poor against Chelsea in the defeat despite scoring from the spot.

And Don Balon claim his team-mates are fed up with him and think the club should cash in on him in if Manchester United are willing to pay £90m.

Diego Godin, Gabi and Juanfran are said to be frustrated with his attitude and think he’d be better off leaving.

Fellaini to Besiktas

08:00: Marouane Fellaini is on Besiktas’ radar as his United future remains uncertain.

Fellaini, out of contract in the summer, is a target for the club confirmed official Metin Albayrak.

“Transfer plans never end, we are always working,” he said.

“Fellaini is on our list, we have made efforts to sign him but not just him.

“He is not the only player we scouted, our scouting team watched 20 games live this week.

“We are keeping tabs on several players.

“The club has plans for Turkey and Europe, there are negotiations.

“We want to make the signing for the winter transfer window or for the end of the season.”

De Gea/Varane swap

07.00: Jose Mourinho is ready to sell David De Gea - if Real Madrid send Raphael Varane they other way.

Spanish website Don Balon claims that Manchester United are now edging towards a state of mind where they will be happy to let him go.

De Gea signed a new contract shortly after his failed move in 2015.

De Gea’s stock continues to rise with his stunning performances helping the Red Devils to second in the Premier League table.

But, with Real Madrid circling, a parting of the ways could be in the offing.

However, Don Balon say Mourinho will cash in - but only on one condition.

The 54-year-old supposedly wants Madrid to cough up a huge amount of money and include Raphael Varane in any potential deal.
