Arsenal news: Arsene Wenger can’t fix Gunners anymore - Lee Dixon

ARSENE WENGER has created an environment at Arsenal where the players don’t know what they are doing.

Arsene Wenger blames referee for Arsenal defeat

That is the scathing opinion of former Gunner Lee Dixon after Wenger’s side were beaten 3-1 by Manchester City on Sunday.

City, who moved 12 points clear of Arsenal with the victory, were comfortable winners at the Etihad despite Wenger bemoaning decisions by referee Michael Oliver.

It was Arsenal’s fourth defeat of the season after just 11 games and the pressure on long-serving Wenger has once again increased.

And Dixon, who played under Wenger, doesn’t believe the French manager is capable of solving their problems.

I honestly think they’re unfixable by Arsene

“I honestly think they’re unfixable by Arsene,” he said on BBC Five Live.

“What he’s got there, he’s created an environment that doesn’t really know what they’re doing without the ball.

“It’s quite simple. For me it’s simple when I watch them I think they can beat anybody on their day going forward.

“They can lose to anybody on their day defensively. That summed it up at the weekend against Man City.”

Dixon was also critical of Wenger’s decision to press City.

He added: “They are not a pressing side. They do it now and again, they did it against Chelsea.

“They’ll get it right and they played really well against Chelsea in the cup final and in the league.

“And then they go and perform like they did against Watford and then you see them try and press Man City, one of the best passing sides in the league.

“Where one’s going, one’s staying - how is that allowed to happen? If you’re not a pressing side you have to press for months and years at a time in order to get it right.

“It’s really difficult, it’s not just a case of going and all rush to the ball.”
