West Ham news: Marko Arnautovic is the main problem for new manager David Moyes, says Le Tissier

That is the view of Sky Sports pundit and legendary Southampton striker Matt Le Tissier.

Moyes was appointed West Ham manager this morning on a six-month deal, replacing Slaven Bilic who was sacked yesterday.

He arrives at the London Stadium with the Hammers sitting 18th in the Premier League table after 11 games.

Arnautovic joined West Ham from Stoke in the summer but has had a less-than impressive start to life in east London.

If you get Marko Arnautovic’s head right and get him playing consistently, he can be a big difference in that football team

The Austrian is yet to score in his nine appearances in all competitions and missed three games after being shown a straight red card for violent conduct on the second day of the season away to Southampton.

But Le Tissier says if Moyes can get the best out of Arnautovic, he will be vital to where they finish in the table this season.

“I think for me the main problem at the moment at West Ham is they spent a lot of money for a marquee signing in the summer, in Marko Arnautovic. He’s not turned up,” Le Tissier said.

“£20million was it? £24million and he’s contributed very little to this season so far.

“If you get Marko Arnautovic’s head right and get him playing consistently, he can be a big difference in that football team to the amount of points West Ham can accumulate this season.

“He is a talent, but at the moment he’s not doing it.”

Moyes' first game in charge at West Ham is at home to Watford on Sunday November 19.
