Jose Mourinho wants more money to spend at Manchester United

Mourinho has signed seven players at Manchester United, including breaking the world transfer record when he bought Paul Pogba from Juventus.

But the Portuguese wants more after being outspent by Manchester City, and then left behind in the title race.

City have raced to an eight point lead after 11 games - with 10 wins and a draw.

United have lost twice and drawn twice. They have not won the league since Sir Alex Ferguson retired in 2013 and last won the Champions League in 2008.

Mourinho won the EFL Cup and the Europa League in his first season at Old Trafford.

He wanted to sign four players in the summer, requiring an extra wide man with Ivan Perisic and Gareth Bale on his shortlist.

But he was made to do with three after signing Romelu Lukaku, Victor Lindelof and Nemanja Matic.

And the Manchester Evening News report that Mourinho wants the club to dig deeper into its pockets to help him fire United to the top.

United have big decisions to make ahead of the summer with Juan Mata, Ander Herrera, Luke Shaw, Daley Blind, Ashley Young and Sam Johnstone all approaching the final 18 months of their deals.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Michael Carrick and Marouane Fellaini are out of contract in the coming summer.

And Mourinho looks to be using the interest from PSG as leverage over a new deal himself.

He recently praised the PSG project, claiming it was ‘something special’, and said he wouldn’t finish his career in Manchester.

That has led to contact from the Ligue 1 side with Mourinho’s agent, but he wants to stay at Old Trafford if he is given the backing he wants from the board.

Antoine Griezmann remains a target and could leave Atletico Madrid in the summer, while Gareth Bale is struggling in Madrid with injuries and the poor form of Real.
