Barcelona news: Man Utd duo Marcus Rashford and Eric Bailly were scouted in Chelsea game

BARCELONA watched Manchester United duo Marcus Rashford and Eric Bailly during the Red Devils' 1-0 defeat to Chelsea on Sunday afternoon.

Barcelona have been running the rule over potential targets in recent weeks, with the Catalan giants set to bolster their squad when the transfer window reopens in the New Year.

The Catalan giants signed Ousmane Dembele and Paulinho in the summer but, despite sitting comfortably at the top of the La Liga table, more players are being eyed.

Barcelona scouts were in attendance to watch Bayer Leverkusen last month, with Jonathan Tah, Julian Brandt and Leon Bailey all interesting the club.

And Spanish outlet Don Balon say representatives were at Stamford Bridge on Sunday to watch United duo Rashford and Bailly.

Rashford has been a huge hit at United ever since Louis van Gaal gave him his debut in February 2016.

The England international has scored seven times already this season - but struggled against Chelsea on Sunday.

The 20-year-old should have found the net with a header but the ball instead lopped over the onrushing Thibaut Courtois.

Bailly was his usual calm and composed self at the back, yet the Ivory Coast international was unable to prevent Alvaro Morata's second-half winner.

Don Balon say Barcelona chief Robert Fernandez travelled with scout Urbano Ortega to watch the game.

Barcelona news: Barca chiefs also scouted Manchester United's Eric Bailly

He supposedly thinks Bailly could be the perfect long-term replacement for veterans Javier Mascherano and Thomas Vermaelen, who are expected to depart at the end of the current campaign.

And the Barcelona technical secretary also thinks Rashford could be plying his trade at the Nou Camp some point down the line.

The La Liga giants also ran the rule over Chelsea's Marcos Alonso.

The 26-year-old is being eyed as a potential replacement for Jordi Alba, whose long-term future is shrouded in uncertainty.
