Liverpool news: Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain discusses lack of starts at Anfield

LIVERPOOL ace Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain admits he'd like to have started more games since moving to Anfield.

Oxlade-Chamberlain LOVES fans' brilliant chant about him

But he's revealed the competition for places on Merseyside is not something he's frightened of as he looks to break into Jurgen Klopp's team.

Oxlade-Chamberlain made his first Premier League start for Liverpool when they visited West Ham on Saturday.

And the 24-year-old got his name on the scoresheet as the rampant Reds won 4-1 and pushed Hammers boss Slaven Bilic towards the exit door.

Oxlade-Chamberlain has not been called up to England's squad for friendlies against Germany and Brazil.

I’ve had to be patient; I’d have liked to have played as much as I can, that’s natural

And he'll be out to impress club boss Klopp in training as he looks to secure a starting spot for Liverpool's showdown with his old club Southampton on Saturday November 18.

Oxlade-Chamberlain has now discussed his lack of starts while speaking to Liverpool's official website.

"It’s never easy coming into a new team with as much quality as we’ve got here. It takes time to settle in and learn a new formation and style of play," Oxlade-Chamberlain said.

"I’ve had to be patient; I’d have liked to have played as much as I can, that’s natural. The only thing I can do when I get the chance is try to impress and help the team to win, with goals and creating chances.

"I’m going to keep trying to do that and keep pushing for starting places, just as everyone else will. That’s the best thing – competition for places.

"The most important thing is that we’re winning. I’m happy with the result and obviously it was nice to start as well."
