West Ham appointed David Moyes as their new manager on Tuesday

West Ham yesterday appointed Moyes as their replacement for Slaven Bilic, who was sacked on Monday.

Moyes has signed a short-term contract with the Hammers and his remit is to keep them in the top flight.

But the Mirror claim Moyes will not be given big transfer funds to invest in the squad come January.

According to the report, the Scot will have to reluctantly offload some of West Ham’s young talent before he can bring in his own recruits.

Two men who could leave, it is claimed, are Reece Oxford and Declan Rice.

Oxford, 18, is on loan at Borussia Monchengladbach but the Mirror claim he could be sold once the transfer window opens in the New Year.

Arsenal are said to be interested in landing 18-year-old defender Rice, who has only just broken into the Hammers first team.

The Mirror claim former Arsenal and Manchester United target Domingos Quina, 17, is another option if West Ham want to raise quick cash.

Discussing transfers yesterday, said: “We will be sitting down with (Moyes).

“You’ve got to give him a little time, he only arrived this morning.

“He will be telling us what he thinks we need.

“It wouldn’t be a lot, let’s face it we believed at the beginning of the season that we had the best squad of players for a decade.

“I have no doubt he will tell us where the weakness is.

“It will be up to Mr Sullivan to find whoever he feels is the man, it’s up to us to go and get him.”
