Striker Walker, who has been capped by England at Under-17 level, has scored five goals in seven games for Boro’s Under-18s this term.

Goalkeeper Solomon Brynn has also signed his maiden pro deal, and chief executive Neil Bausor said: “We wish both lads the very best of luck.

“They have earned their contracts, but they both know there is a long way to go.”

Born academy boss Craig Liddle added: “We're really pleased with the boys' progress, but they know the real work starts here.

“They've done well to get where they are, now they have to press on.”

Middlesbrough hope Stephen Walker can break into Garry Monk's first team

Middlesbrough’s Under-18s were thrashed 6-2 by their United counterparts last month at the Red Devils’ Carrington training complex.

Walker was on target in the defeat but, according to TeamTalk, he caught the eye of United’s academy staff.

And it’s claimed United talent spotters are now keeping tabs on his progress.

Boro are hopeful Walker could break into Garry Monk’s first team before the end of the Championship season.
