Chelsea news: Alvaro Morata reveals he wants to make history and match Jose Mourinho

CHELSEA star Alvaro Morata wants to match Jose Mourinho by winning league titles in England, Spain and Italy.

Morata is currently in his first season at Chelsea since signing from Real Madrid back in the summer.

The Spain international has enjoyed a fine start to life in his new surroundings, scoring eight goals from 15 games.

The latest of those came against Manchester United on Sunday afternoon, where his pinpoint header was enough to damage Mourinho's hopes of winning the league title.

And Chelsea star Morata has now revealed he wants to match the Red Devils boss by adding the Premier League to Serie A and La Liga titles picked up at Juventus and Real Madrid.

"I have the challenge of winning the league in England, Italy and Spain," he told newspaper Marca.

"That is my objective: win the Premier League and go down in history as the Spaniard who won the title in those three countries."

Morata won the Scudetto twice while at Juventus, in 2015 and 2016.

He then followed that up by firing Real to the La Liga title in 2017, five years after he won the prize under Mourinho.

Morata has also insisted he did not regret joining Chelsea - despite originally being tipped to join United.

"I don't regret going to Chelsea, completely the opposite," the 25-year-old added

"I hope I can stay all the time [possible] at Chelsea."

Meanwhile, BBC pundit Garth Crooks thinks Chelsea's hopes of glory lie on Morata's shoulders.

"Chelsea will need to wrap Morata in cotton wool in order to get him through a Premier League season," Crooks said.

"Fixtures during the Christmas and New Year periods can make or break a team, not to mention a player's form, and Morata looks more like a thoroughbred stallion than a Hereford bull.

"That said, Conte is no pushover and his response to leaving David Luiz, arguably his best player last season, out of the line-up against United, proves he is in no mood to take any nonsense from any of his players and expects complete and total commitment from everyone regardless of their perceived status."
