And he says playing with Philippe Coutinho and under Jurgen Klopp is paying dividends for Brazil too.

Firmino made the move to Liverpool in the summer of 2015 but saw Brendan Rodgers, the man who signed him, sacked just months later.

The 26-year-old has thrived under Rodgers’ successor, Klopp, though and has become a fan favourite among the Reds faithful.

Firmino will be hoping he can carry his club form into next summer’s World Cup in Russia.

And he’s now opened up on how featuring alongside Coutinho can benefit five-time champions Brazil.

"It's different: the game is quicker, but very physical at the same time," Firmino told The Independent

"I think my game is suited to it because I'm fast and I know how to use my strength.

"My team-mates play an important part in that, because we seek to complement each other's games.

"It helps having Coutinho with me. He's a 'differential' who helps swing games.

"Coutinho is a friend and also a great player.

"He's got incredible passing ability; he knows how to put attackers in on goal."

Firmino made a favourable comparison between Liverpool boss Klopp and Brazil gaffer Tite.

"I think the Brazil system is similar to the one we use at Liverpool, with lots of movement, players open out wide and quality midfielders who join the attack and score goals," Firmino explained.

Firmino will be out to impress when Liverpool play host to Southampton on Saturday (3pm).
