Harry Kane matches Arsenal legend Bergkamp's away goal record

Harry Kane joined Premier League royalty in the form of Dennis Bergkamp when he struck twice during Tottenham’s 4-0 win over Huddersfield on Saturday.

The England striker, 24, netted early on after powering clear on goal then added a second when he sent a fine curling effort into the corner from the edge of the area.

Although there was to be no hat-trick for the England striker, he joined former Arsenal star Bergkamp as the only players to score twice in three successive away fixtures.

He netted twice at Everton and West Ham prior to Saturday’s fixture, while he also grabbed a Champions League hat-trick away against APOEL last Tuesday.

After another scoreless August, Kane has been oustanding in September, scoring 13 times for club and country, a figure unsurpassed in his career to date.

Highlighting just what a successful period it has been for Kane, he matched the highest tallies in a single month by Lionel Messi during March 2012 and Cristiano Ronaldo, who scored as many in October 2010.

Kane’s second at the John Smith’s Stadium took him to 84 career Premier League goals, matching the tally of Ronaldo, who played with Manchester United from 2003 until 2009.

Remarkably, he has scored only twice at Spurs’ temporary home of Wembley, getting two against Borussia Dortmund in Tottenham’s Champions League opener.
