January transfer news & rumours: Newcastle join race for David Luiz


NEWCASTLE JOIN LUIZ RACE


Newcastle United are the latest club to show an interest in signing Chelsea defender David Luiz, according to the  London Evening Standard .

The Brazil international has fallen out of favour at Stamford Bridge this season and has been linked with Arsenal, Real Madrid and Juventus.

And Magpies boss Rafa Benitez is hopeful he can persuade the centre-back to move to the north-east, though any move would have to be a loan deal.

WOODBURN TO BE SENT OUT ON LOAN

Liverpool have made teenage forward Ben Woodburn available for a loan move in January, according to the  Daily Mail .

Woodburn - who became the Reds's youngest ever goalscorer last season - has been linked with a host of Premier League and Championship clubs.

And manager Jurgen Klopp is keen for the Wales international to play more first-team football in the second half of the campaign.


REAL MADRID ADVANCE HAZARD NEGOTIATIONS

Real Madrid are making progress in their negotiations to sign Chelsea playmaker Eden Hazard next summer, claims Diario Gol .

Zinedine Zidane has instructed Madrid president Florentino Perez to pursue a deal for Hazard and the Belgium international could arrive at the Santiago Bernabeu after next year’s World Cup in Russia.

If Hazard does move to Madrid, then Marco Asensio is likely to seek a transfer away, with Manchester City a potential destination.


LUIZ TRIED FOR BARCELONA MOVE

Barcelona have ruled out signing David Luiz after the Chelsea defender offered himself to the Camp Nou club, according to Catalunya Radio, via Sport .

Luiz’s future at Chelsea appears uncertain and the Brazilian, who has also been linked with Arsenal, Manchester United, Juventus and Real Madrid, has recently travelled to Barcelona for treatment on an injury.

During his trip, Luiz offered himself to Barcelona, who are looking to sign a new centre-back due to the expected departure of Javier Mascherano.

However, due to Luiz being 30 and the financial implications of signing him, Barca are instead focusing on other defensive targets.


MAN UTD OFFER MKHI FOR ALEX SANDRO

Manchester United are willing to offer Henrikh Mkhitaryan to Juventus as part of their bid to sign Alex Sandro, claims The Sun .

Reports have suggested that United will offer £60 million for Alex Sandro in an attempt to beat Chelsea to the signing of the Brazilian left-back.

However, the out-of-favour Mkhitaryan could also be used as a bargaining chip in a deal for Alex Sandro. Juventus, while interested in Mkhitaryan, would prefer to see reported Barcelona target Daley Blind included by United as part of any deal.


MAN CITY JOIN RACE FOR £40M ZAHA

Manchester City have entered the race to sign £40 million-rated Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha, according to the Daily Mirror .

The former Manchester United man, who made just four appearances in all competitions during his time at Old Trafford, is apparently also attracting interest from Arsenal and Chelsea.

Alexis Sanchez remains City's no.1 transfer target although the runaway Premier League leaders see the Ivory Coast international as the ideal alternative should they fail to land the Arsenal forward.

Arsenal are lining up a shock £30 million bid for Chelsea defender David Luiz, according to a report from the Daily Express .

Luiz has made just eight Premier League appearances for the Blues this season, after falling out of favour with manager Antonio Conte.

It is understood that their relationship has not fully healed, and Arsene Wenger is now interested in securing the Brazilian's signature.

Luiz is also reportedly a target for Jose Mourinho and Manchester United, as well as Juventus and Real Madrid.


DE BRUYNE IN LINE FOR NEW MAN CITY DEAL

Kevin De Bruyne is closing in on a new long-term deal at Manchester City, according to the BBC .

The 26-year-old has emerged as one of the best midfielders in world football as Pep Guardiola's side have surged into an 11-point lead at the top of the Premier League, and City are now keen to recognise his outstanding contribution.

Fellow midfielder Fernandinho is also set to hold talks with the club over a new deal. His current contract expires at the end of the season.


EX-LIVERPOOL TARGET TEIXEIRA PLACED ON TRANSFER LIST

Former Liverpool target Alex Teixeira has been placed on the transfer list by Jiangsu Suning, according to Tuttosport .

Liverpool reportedly made a £25 million bid for the attacking midfielder in 2016, but were unable to woo the now-27-year-old to Anfield.

He instead joined Jiangsu for a £38.4m fee, though head coach Fabio Capello has deemed the expensive acquisition surplus to requirements.


ARTETA LINED UP AS WENGER SUCCESSOR

Mikel Arteta could replace Arsene Wenger at Arsenal, according to the Daily Telegraph .

The former Spain international is currently working at Manchester City under Pep Guardiola, but is held in high regard by the Gunners.

Wenger's current contract expires in 2019, and Arsenal are working up a shortlist of replacements, with Arteta near the top of the list.

Borussia Dortmund are continuing to show an interest in bringing Manchester United attacker Henrikh Mkhitaryan back to the club, reports The Independent .

Mkhitaryan left Dortmund for Old Trafford in the summer of 2016, but the Armenia international has struggled to make a sustained impact under Jose Mourinho.

The United boss has not ruled out selling players in January, amid reports he will let Mkhitaryan go, while any return to the Bundesliga could help Mourinho in his pursuit of Dortmund midfielder Julian Weigl.


ARSENAL WILLING TO PAY €48M FOR LOZANO

Arsenal are willing to pay €48 million for PSV star Hirving Lozano, Mexican publication AM report.

Lozano, in his first season in the Eredivisie, has scored 10 goals and provided six assists in just 15 appearances this season, attracting interest from the Gunners and Everton.

Both clubs are now reportedly willing to match PSV's massive asking price, which would make Lozano the most expensive Mexican player in history.
