Lichtsteiner to leave Juventus in summer but Valencia talks break down

Stephan Lichtsteiner is set to leave Juventus at the end of the season, as the club are not interested in renewing his contract.

The right-back remains a first-team regular in Serie A this season having made 13 appearances, thanks to injuries from summer signings Mattia De Sciglio and Benedikt Howedes, but his commitment to the Turin side comes to an end in June.

Goal understands that while the 33-year-old would like to extend his stay with the Bianconeri, the feeling isn't mutual among the Juve board.

Lichtsteiner, who would be eligible to sign a pre-contract with a new club in January, recently had contact with Valencia about a potential move, though those talks have stalled.

The Switzerland international is in his seventh season at Juve following stints with Grasshopper, Lille and Lazio, having won six Serie A titles and three Coppa Italia crowns.

Massimiliano Allegri's side currently sit third in the Italian top flight, two points behind leaders Inter after 16 weeks.
